Today started with a visit to Eyam, together with a swarm of primary school children from no end of schools - great fun, just like being at work. Eyam is renown as a plague village, heart-rending stories of loss during the 1665 plague. Then a scramble up to Mother Cap with great views over Hathersage. Today's random-person-to-meet was someone who, as a young girl, couldn't wait to escape the predictability of village life, disappeared, had a child of her own & returned to her home village. She said she'd found herself. Sometimes things turn full-circle. So a great day in the beautiful Peak District.

Extras of the register & dates of terrible loss in Eyam, powerful reading, & views over Hathersage.
