More Than Apples

Dear Diary,

I love small, local farm stands.  This one is in my town.  I also love the sign they have, "New Generation, Same Dirt".  The grandchildren of the former owner of the farm have taken over the operation.  I was so pleased with that.  They had a wonderful display of pumpkins and squashes.  Of course, I had to pick up a few things.

Maine has the oldest population of any state and to help with that the state now offers a $4,000. tax credit each year to each young person who stays and works in Maine to help them pay off their student loans. So far, it seems to be working.  I do hope so, we need the next generation to carry on.  I'll do my part buying locally produced products.
