Brompton Road

A day in London with not much in mind! We decided to go back to Ro’s roots and took the train to Wandsworth Common. we went to three places he lived as a boy. Wakehurst road where he lived as a very young boy more or less opposite his Grandmother’s house. She looked after him when his parents worked. We had a lovely walk along Wandsworth common to get there then a walk along the Northcote Rd, very upmarket ! Ro had told me we had a really long walk but it wasn’t as long as he remembered it!
On to Clapham Junction were we had a coffee and cake in Debenhams ( the old Arding and Hobbs! ).
We then took a bus and I took some shots from the top deck! It was the 49 he used to take to South Kensington to go to the Oratory School.

Blip was taken as we went past this building site on Brompton Road. They appear to be keeping the facade of the old building to build behind it! I think it’s this site:

From There we took a 414 to Marble Arch. I was disappointed as there was no one on speakers corner. That was where Anyone could get on a soap box and rant about whatever! from the bus we saw various groups possibly converging to make a bigger demonstration? Couldn’t see what it was about.
We walked along Oxford Street but it was obvious we were exhausted so we stopped in John Lewis to eat!

By then we felt it was time to head back towards Victoria so we followed the app and crossed Green Park. It was by the palace that we met an American from Seattle. He was part of a great group of Seattle Seahawks with their green hair etc! A really colourful bunch! We talked for ages! Finally he took a selfie of the three of us! And gave Ro a seahawks towel!

Victoria and a train back to Croydon and were in time to buy some oranges, bananas and grapes in the street market. I don’t think we will go out again tonight. Strictly is on!

Happy weekend folks! Xxxxx
