Young Roe Deer (alias Bambi)

Around lunchtime we saw two roe deer walking quickly across the field outside our house. They continued to the edge of the forest and then settled down to feed (extra). As we watched we could see it was a doe and her daughter.
The doe was very watchful but the younger deer less so, and more interested in food. She came out into our garden and had a go at these young rose shoots  but preferred the grass growing at their feet.
We watched for several minutes until she froze and stared down our driveway. Her attention grew more intense (extra) until suddenly she spun around and bounded into the forest, followed by her mum.
A minute later two Jehova's Witnesses came wandering up our path on their quest for converts (no luck here). Our deer had them spotted even before they came in sight.
Wikipedia Bambi note - In the film Bambi is a north american mule deer but in the original book she is a roe deer.
