Pair of Little Owls!

These Little Owls (Athene noctua) were on our day's outing in the Donana National Park in southern Spain (for links see yesterday). The two were further apart until just before we were going to drive off the one on the right flew to where you see him--we stayed to get this shot.

We were to the east of El Rocío, in the area called Coto del Rey. Access is restricted, in part because the Iberian lynx is there--one of the rarest feline species in the world. It was our main objective, for the day, but we did not see it. Otherwise we had a good day, with the main sightings being at leas two Spanish imperial eagles and a booted eagle.
