A Bonito

On my last full day in San Marcos Chris and I went on a lads sports fishing trip from Oceanside onto the broad blue Pacific Ocean.

Usually the Ocean and beach are one of the first things we see when we’re over here but this time it’s one of the last.

It was a sparkling day, warm, wall to wall blue skies, a cooling breeze and only a gentle swell. The boat meandered its way up and down the coast for quite a while in search of Bonito, eventually anchoring to the north of Camp Pendleton.

Fishing was not good. Chris caught three a mackerel and two calico bass and I caught one calico bass all of which were too small to keep. Bonito were caught by a couple of people creating a bit of excitement when they were landed.

I was hoping to blip a shot of a fish of our own or one of either of us fishing. But it was not to be, when we were fishing there was no time for photos so you’ll have to be content with a general shot of the boat, skies, ocean and coast. Despite the lack of fish it was a memorable experience, one worth repeating nest time.

Landon came home from day care with a cut on his eyelid owing to falling over. No damage done. He was carried in from the car fast asleep and remained so while we walked the dogs.

He’s getting g very inquisitive, knowing his own mind. He has bundles of toys but often prefers to head for the outside or the dogs’ food and water, or the portable heater or the kitchen cabinets.

I was able to bath him and get him ready for bed. He was in his squirmiest mood, wriggling and vocalising all the time I was trying to get his nappy and pyjamas on. We got there in the end.
