In The Occupied Territory

I want to see the bright lights tonight

So today was the day that ABerdeen's Xmas lights got switched on. June and I went in to see the grand event.
No fancy Dan or superstar doing ours, but a nice festive parade, and the lights goin on as the parade passes each set.
All the road signs said that there would be major road closures from 1630.
So we got in and parked up really early, had lunch, went to Jessops and then headed up to Union St. Now approaching the said time, and still the road was open, although there were quite a few people milling about.
So we went to have a look around some other shops, and when we came out again, we saw the street cordoned off.
Yes, not long now.
It was getting near five o'clock, when we aske a couple of bobbies what time the lights were being switched on.
We were informed that the parade starts about 1700 way up in Albyn Place, aroun 3/4 a mile away and wens it's way down town, aeeivin.." About Monday, " I said.
To which they laughed, and pointed out that it could be 45 minutes or more away.
To heck with that.
So off we went for an early dinner, before the crowds got to the restaurants.
This is the scene before the parade, and we have no idea what it looked like after.
Plenyt time, they will be up until January.
