Mae’r Dail Yn Cwympo I Lawr ~ The Leaves Fall Down

Beam sceal on eorðan
leafum liþan; leomu gnornian.

A tree on the earth must
lose its leaves; the branches mourn.

Mae diddordeb gyda fi mewn hanes, nid jyst i mewn beth ddigwyddodd, ond i mewn sut roedd bywyd y bobol. Mae'r bobol oedd yn fyw yn y gorffennol wedi gadael storiâu a barddoniaeth i ni ac weithiau maen nhw roi i ni cipolwg o fywyd ar y pryd hynny.

Mae 'A Clerk of Oxford' yn ysgrifennu am y canoloesoedd - a chyn - ac rydw’n hoffi ei erthygl am 'Anglo Saxon Autumns'.  Mae'n rhoi i mi synnwyr o'r bywyd ar y pryd pan roedd bobol yn agosach i'r byd naturiol. Gwnaethon nhw deimlo'r brathiad yr hydref a'r gaeaf.

Mae'r geiriau 'Mae’r Dail Yn Cwympo I Lawr' yn dod o'r gân 'Tryweryn' gan Gwenno.  Dyna stori arall. Fel y bobol o'r oesoedd yn y gorffennol, rydyn ni'n gadael ein hanes mewn storiâu a barddoniaeth.

I am interested in history, not just what happened, but in how the people's lives were. The people who lived in the past have left us stories and poetry and sometimes they give us an insight into life at that time.

'A Clerk of Oxford' writes about the middle ages - and before - and I like her article about 'Anglo Saxon Autumns'. It gives me a sense of life at the time when people were closer to the natural world. They felt the bite of autumn and winter

The words 'The Leaves In Fall Down' comes from the song 'Tryweryn' by Gwenno. That's another story. Like the people of the past, we leave our history in stories and poetry.
