Locked up together

Now that the Budget work was done and it was the last quiet day at the conference, we bunked off and declared it a German office team-motivation day.

The highlight was taking a boat trip to the legendary Alcatraz prison island in the bay. Once home to a few well-known characters.

Apart from Tino, Angie and myself, our sales rep for south-east Germany was along. Christian a fabulous quiet guy but with a lovely sense of humour and a good dose of Franconian Bavarian dialect.  Angie was forever grateful for his presence and being able to talk in a proper language.

I really don't remember if it was this night but on one, the four of us went to a Chinese restaurant named Houseof Nanking in Chinatown. Now Tino who is an expert on every city and place worldwide had never been to San Francisco but had asked a friend who lived there for their recommendation. Luckily it came with a warning and so we entered the place despite the outside appearance and the sneaked view through the windows. It was even worse indoors - bare linoleum-topped tables and the beers we ordered dumped down to be drunk directly from the bottles. Eventually, implements and paper napkin arrived before the most tasteful series of dishes were "served". An absolute delight and great value for money. We left pretty late on as they were beginning to close up. Had we seen the open plan kitchen, which one had to pass to get to the front door, on our way in then we would have turned around and fled. I have never seen so much food and rice stuck on walls and cooking hobs!

The Trip Advisor reviews seem to confirm nothing has changed in over 20 years.
