Utah Beach at low tide: horses, mussels & oysters

TWO PHOTOS:

The tide at Utah Beach is on the turn, at low tide it recedes 700 metres or more.

FIRST photo:

The locally reared horses are regularly exercised on the beach, frequently in the sea.

SECOND photo:

At low tide the mussels (cultivated on poles) and oysters (on beds) protrude above the water level, and can be checked for problems.

The poles (7 metres or so high) protrude above the water at all times, and indicate the locations of beds under cultivation.
