Glacial

I really was determined to post one of my own photos today but yet again the dreadful cold (4°C), damp, misty, snow-sprinkled landscape didn't lend itself to do anything more to quickly do the morning and evening dog walks with Luna and also hope they sorted out my innards which are acting up again. I somehow think it is a reaction to a particular foodstuff rather than kidney stones but the symptoms are similar.

As Luna and I returned in the dark from the evening walk, the vet was examining the horses who both seem to be coughing and spluttering with a cold and cough. Not surprising given the change in weather and their insistence on standing out in the rain despite having ample cover. Angie had spent most of the day dealing with the sick having been with her Dad trying to get him mobile. Sadly now that progress is being made, the family feud has risen it's ugly head again, fueled by the unbelievable, naive, machismo, "keep women in their place" attitude of father.

I did correspond with Bliper Nogbad and would highly recommend his Extra Photo today of a Tesco's computer generated price sign. I simply cannot believe that such a mistake is possible - it CANNOT happen. Nigel didn't buy it and not because of the price. I offered him one from our garden. Although we have had snow, it hasn't been much under freezing point and we are this evening experiencing the Fohn phenomenon where the temperature from +4°C at midday will rise to about +10°C by midnight - strong gale force winds coming over the Alps where they have dumped massive amounts of rain in Italy and then on the north side warm air. Parts of Bavaria are experiencing temperatures close to +20°C and tomorrow there will be winter in Western Germany, summer in Eastern Germany!

I won't trouble you with courgette photos, or the nighttime view of the inside of the vet's equipment in the rear of his van. Instead the latest episode from the "Berkeley and Mathison" West Coast USA tour. After an exciting night of watching a washing machine in their motel somewhere on the edge of Yosemite National Park, today they headed up into them hills and having done the obligatory Glacier Point photo - he wrote 7,500 feet and 21 years previously I had said was 2,199 metres. (Dad was of course right) They then went off-trail for a boulder climb to a nearby waterfall. Not sure if they got back safely as no further photos or videos arrived.

I suspect it was a bit cool up at that height and they are now heading south back to the warmth of southern California and make their mark on LA.
