Hedge lights

G, H and I were due to go for a walk this morning, but as heavy rain was forecast again, we decided to go to the craft exhibition at Blickling and have a look round the Hall. I loved the crafts and bought a lovely wooden bowl made from lots of different woods.

We were lucky to get on a special tour they were running today to do with the housekeeping and conservation of the Hall. Two lovely ladies took us up to the attic rooms that were originally used by the servants and where they now have issues with bats and with death watch beetles. It was fascinating to see behind the scenes with lots of NT furniture stored away and some original rugs which have now been replaced by the ingenious eyemats http://www.eyemats.co.uk/

We were told how the rooms were used by RAF officers during WWII and how they used the long corridor through the rooms to play cricket (see Extra). The photo above is of fairy lights strung through the centre of a long hedge (best seen large).
