Biking

A day of some transport indulgences, including a cable car, boat, and (of course) bikes.

London has become something of a vertical city, at least in the 'City', and I'm torn between the monstrous steel and glass constructions being impressive and ugly. The 'walkie-talkie' is a very strange looking piece of architecture, but at the very top houses the 'Sky Garden', normally free to visit (though with a ticketed time), we went up for breakfast with a (rainy) view.

More pilgrimages followed, one to the modern religion of cycling (served up by Look Mum No Hands!, where some great eggs benedict were indulged in); the other the ancient religion of Hinduism, and the stunning Baps Shri Swaminarayan mandir, with an interior that looks like lacework in stone. Oh, and the shop in the car park had some fantastic samosas and sweet stuff....

Packing a load of random stuff in, we paid a ridiculous amount of money to look at plasticised corpses in Body Worlds; and finished off with a wonderful Persian meal at a restaurant just round from the houseboat.

But the bikes were probably the most fun, and whenever possible, after first registering, we just hopped on those. Even for a 400 yard trundle downhill after a late night breakfast supplies wander to the shops.
