Hiking at Caesar Creek

Tuesday
Today we had sun in the forecast again, but that will be the last we see of it for the next several days at least - cloud and rain move in tomorrow! So we decided we had to make the most of it - housework can wait (!) - and got out to do some more hiking - this time at Caesar Creek State Park, near Waynesville. Caesar Creek is a man-made flood control lake, completed in 1978. The first trail we did was the Fifty Springs Loop trail, a new one for us, which runs pretty close to either shore of a little peninsula, affording some nice views of the lake through the trees. The top two right views of my collage were taken on this trail. Our second hike went to Horseshoe Falls, bottom right in my collage. Before returning home, we drove over to Pioneer village, and had a stroll around the old cabins - the village having been formed when historic buildings were moved here in order to save them from destruction.
