Beauty Galore

A day filled with beauty, beginning with thick mist, but it cleared, as you can see. Took our guests to Mike's favourite castle, Noudar. It's in the middle of nowhere, high on a crag, where the Múrtega and Ardila rivers meet, here since before the Romans; more recently belonging sometimes to Portugal, sometimes to Spain. We saw huge birds of prey (black vultures?) hovering, the keep alive with swooping swifts, two sorts of egrets down on the banks of the river.

Then they treated us to an excellent lunch in Estrela, a small village with the Lake in people's backyards. And then to the boardwalk at Luz to watch the sunset across the water. Well, the post sunset, actually, but the colours were stunning.

Then we got home and I felt awful, went to bed and couldn't stop shivering. So Mike has taken them to the Adega to meet our friends, and I've dragged myself down to the computer because, whatever happens, a Blip must be posted.
