After the Final No

Thumbnail shows the pine tree above the now submerged village of Luz. Took the team to the museum there, a walk on the boardwalk, and then church for All Saints Day.

Two quotes I copied into my diary from Unsheltered, by Barbara Kingsolver, surely the perfect novel for these times...

The epigraph, which so reminded me of the OT prophets that I'm reading:
After the final no there comes a yes
And on that yes the future world depends.
- Wallace Stevens

And, on p469:
"Poor Mama," she said, leaning her springy head against Willa's shoulder. "I know. It feels like the end of the world when you can't have the things you always wanted. But its not the end of the world. There's some other place to go." ...
"Without a roof over your head, it kind of feels like you might die."
"Yeah, but you might not. For sure you won't find your way out of the mess if you keep picking up bricks and stuffing them in your pockets. What you have to do is look for the blue sky."

Gratefuls:
- the lads coming up to mix concrete to help Mike finish laying the floor (see extra phone photo)
- celebration lunch together at O Pátio
- good writing, how it helps you make sense of this terrible and glorious world
