Early start

Up early, still not adjusted to the clock change and out of the house by 8 to take the car over to Inverness for a service.
The sun was up but with icy roads and low sun it was a very glary drive down the A9 and across the bridge.
After we left the car we went for a walk along the canal. We found a place to park near the garage with some steps and a slope which took you up to the canal path.
A quick look for the kingfisher who must have been hiding. The group of herons were huddled in the reeds looking like grumpy old men ;)
A curlew and redshank were exploring the mud where the tide had gone out.
There were plenty of blackbirds, redwings and blue, great and long tailed tits among the trees.Further down and on the Firth side we could see mallard, widgeon and teal.
We walked back and across the railway to the end of the Loch at Clachnaharry. The water was so still with wonderful reflections of the buildings. This is where boats enter for their journey up the Great Glen on the Caledonian Canal.
We treated ourselves to a hot roll from Harry Gows which we ate looking at the Loch across the water from Merkinch.
Back Home and I cleared another pile of leaves so the bin is full again and the oaks are still to lose their leaves.
Tidied another cupboard in the kitchen so much more organised now.
No problem with the car service so Mike went back to collect it just before they closed at 4.30pm.
