Sunset saves the day

A landmark day. Refereed my first game since the damaging knee injury last January. Elated and relived to come through unscathed although I’ll probably feel the effects tomorrow.

It’s been a good week too, as a blood test showed my HbA1C we’re back down to 38 from 41 in April. (42-48 is pre diabetic). That determined avoidance of sugar is paying off.

A good game despite the one sided score line of 0-36. Good to get back and even better to find I’m still fit enough to do the job.

An early start at 12.30 owing to the rugby internationals meant no walk into town but we did walk after the game. That’s when the super sunset provided today’s blip. It’s amazing how fleeting these displays are and how we need to see and marvel at them when they happen, not take them for granted or not even look for them.

Bangers and Mash with red onion gravy and smashed carrots and swede for dinner. Seemed appropriate given the enormous number of fireworks set off all around us tonight.
