Splitting logs

In the Spring we finally had the trees on the banking above the house taken down - something we had thought about each time there was a storm !

That left us with a very arge amount of wood to split for storage.   Cathleen has been working her way through it, and was again today , a task that would be even more difficult  without the electric log splitter we have had for the past decade.  

I first saw one in use when canvassing in the 2011 election in Rothesay.   One of my constituents insisted I came into his back garden to see his new acquisition and I determined there and then we had to get one.  

 It does save a huge amount of labour, though not every log will split as easily as the one pictured.
