Rose aphids

There's still insect life in the garden, helped by this unseasonal mild week. These aphids are quite numerous on a few plucky rose buds - they are the red-brown form of Macrosiphum rosae, I think. You may not agree, but I think it's wonderful how insects make use of any niche - physical or temporal - that helps them create a new generation.
