Kings Cross

Such is life. The morning went well, the rain stopped for long enough for us to have our walk. Very breezy but mild. Travelled to York this afternoon for a meeting nearby tomorrow. First leg to Victoria no problem, journey to York started well but ended abruptly north of Huntingdon when the train failed.

A rescue loco had to be sent from Kings Cross to tow us back to Huntington. There an Edinburgh bound train was held while 9 carriage loads of people boarded swamping the existing occupants. I was fortunate, managing to get a seat in first class for the remainder of the journey to York.

There was good humour all around although I’m not sure the existing First Class passengers welcomed our intrusion as the evening dinner service was cancelled.

In the end I arrived in York over 3.5 hours late. I was due to collect a car and travel to the Days Inn at Wetherby but I had to abandon that and book a hotel in York and collect car tomorrow. Had a late dinner in Wetherspoons and retired to reflect on the day.

Thanks to Bobsblips for hosting WideWednesday with the theme of Movement. Lots of movement in the concourse at Kings Cross which is echoed in the suggestion of movement in the roof structure which appears to me a bit like water disappearing down a plug hole or some sort of vortex with people seeming to be drawn towards it. Little did I know the train to York would cease to move an hour or so later.
