Hussif

This is a 'Housewife', or mending kit, carried by soldiers to make repairs or sew on buttons. As you see, the thread is metallic on a wooden spool but, apart from a needle and rusty pin, most of the kit is missing. It was given to me with other family items by my aunt but, sadly, I can't remember who she said had owned it or the period it was issued.

If anyone has any more information, I should be delighted to hear it.
