Armistice centenary

Tonight we walked down to our village to participate in the centenary commemorations.

There was a party in the village hall with puppet shows for the children and a tea dance for the elders.

We arrived just before the 7pm ceremony. On the village green at 7pm a bugler played the Last Post and then the beacon was lit. The church bells rang and children played hand bells. It was very moving .

Back to the village hall, a local blues band, Gambler, played some great sets.

We don't generally participate in village events, especially as we live in the outskirts of the village on an unlit and unmade up very dark lane. Once the sun has set we are reluctant to cross the threshold. But tonight we were pleased to take part in this memorable event.
