Tipping Point

A local walk up to Machen Mountain Mast to take in the view over the Bristol Channel and Cardiff.  On the return we pass the old coal tip which is so high and big it is easily seen from over fifteen miles away. We can see it from our house.

It's a link with the industrial heritage of South Wales and its collieries, now long closed. It's well under way of being reclaimed by nature. I believe the spoil comes from near-byTrethomas Colliery in the next village.
