St ives

Woke to a beautiful sun rise, and the boss and R. Headed off from the site straight onto the coast path to St.ives. I walked down, exploring the lovely cobbled streets, packed with galleries....which I enjoy exploring. Ended up on the harbour wall where watching the fisherman land their boxes of lovely looking fresh mackerel and herring. Amazed also to see seals all around, mackerel in their mouths, being attacked by the gulls who were trying to steal their catch. I presumed that the catch had come from the fisherman returning waste to the sea....but no. The fisherman explained that the seal sanctuary that takes seals in from all over UK release them back in locally therefore a large number exists around st ives and the fish they were eating were caught also harbour wall. I visited Mutton Bay, a couple of miles north, on a previous visit and saw about 200 seals basking in the sun.https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2425037329212113906
