This Week's Project

I bought six of these big gourds at a local farm market, and on some recent walks I have been picking up various sizes of oak leaves.

After an hour or two of tracing, wood-burning, and painting...I was ready to lop off the top. The problem?

Not too far in the cutting in,
I discovered that the "skin",
was much too thin,
and broke again and again.

By the time I was done, I had broken 5 of the leaves. But, after throwing the piece in the garbage bin...I began to rethink it.

I cut out the remaining good leaves on the bad piece, and glued them onto a new gourd, thus giving it sort of a 3-D feel.

It did cost me two gourds, but I liked the results.
