Surprise seed pod

A surprise find in the garden this morning is this   burst seed pod from a day lily.   Neither M nor I had seen one before so it took some time to work out what it was until  we remembered  we had been given some day lilies from  some friends who were downsizing and moving south to be nearer their family.

Lunch with more friends today ( I am making up for lost time) including one from Glasgow   who regaled us with  stories of how she sat in the space rocket that brought the first man back from the moon at Cape Canaveral during a trip to America.
Apparently it was a very tight squeeze.
