Escapism

The story so far...

Brexit continues to cause a constitutional and democratic meltdown of historic proportions in the UK. One of the few positives is the way it is exposing the idiocy of most of the Westminster "system" and I include the BBC in that.

The BBC took an "editorial decision" 2 years ago that Brexit was going to happen, and all its news and current affairs programming was to start from that assumption. Remember the USSR? Pravda?

One of the concerns we are faced with ("we" being those who think for ourselves) is what or who might take advantage of the current situation. The SNP certainly is one of them, but we will most definitely not be the only ones and Scottish independence is the least of the UK's worries in that context.

In case anyone has missed it - the BBC & other media are doing their best to cover it up - both Donald Tusk and Theresa May have quite clearly stated this week that remaining in the EU is a very live option for the UK to take.

Ah, my Blip! Some forward planning for next month. I will be having a day in Helsinki. The short history section is interesting - I knew a bit about about the last 120 years in Finland from my Cold War university studies - but mostly around its 20th century relationship with Russia and the USSR. It was good to fill in some gaps.
