Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

Not far from the Kremlin is the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, a Russian Orthodox cathedral on the banks of the Moscow River.

Built from 1995 to 2000, the cathedral is a replica of the original church built in the 19th century but destroyed by Stalin in 1930.

What a breath-taking experience to go inside. Looking up into domes, the largest of which is 103 metres high, it is a scene of ornate beauty. (No photography allowed inside.)

Even a bride if you search in the photo!

In extras some of the detail above the entrance.
