Singapore Botanical Gardens

Thank you so much for all your comments and kindness in response to my 70th birtday yesterday, you are a lovely bunch! When I finally get back home I shall reply to all of them.

As befits my new status as an old man (occasionally grumpy!) and in the aftermath of the celebrations it was a wise move to go at a slow pace today.

We visited Singapore Botanic Gardens which is one of three gardens, and the only tropical garden, to be honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been ranked Asia's top park attraction since 2013. In 2012 was declared the inaugural Garden of the Year, International Garden Tourism Awards and received Michelin's three-star rating.

It lived up to its top billing. The National Orchid House with over a thousand species on show (see extras ... aye for just a few examples!) is a sight to behold. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
