Autumn Scene

A truly awful day, cold, wet and dull. It cleared up sufficiently to stop raining around 4.00pm to allow us to get out for a walk.

The day itself matched the weather as much time was taken trying to work out the best house insurance policy for Doreen and ourselves, endlessly checking the small print and deciding which of the many options to choose.

On top of that Virgin Media went down, the third time in 5 days. This time it didn’t come back up when the router was rebooted. Calls to customer services resulted in an engineer visit being booked but one was not available until Friday.

We then realised that as our phone service came via Virgin we’d have no phone for Doreen to ring. It’s the only way she can really contact us nowadays. So it was back onto Virgin to see if we qualified for an emergency visit. But no, there policy was to visit only if the vulnerable person lived at the same address. No amount of pleading did any good.

I discovered I couldn’t even complain to a higher level, only the customer services could lodge a complaint. And it takes 72 hours for someone to ring back!

Wouldn’t you just know it, 90 minutes after it wasn’t down it all of a sudden came back up again. We’re still going to get the engineer to visit as this is becoming a frequent occurrence.

On a lighter note, today’s contribution to Tiny Tuesday is Susan’s latest painting. Such intricate detail in an autumn scene. She’s working on her Christmas card now. Thanks for JDO for hosting.
