Wound up in Wexford

W's latest project

Many moons ago, when we had the porch built onto the front of the house, we made a decision to have the letter box in the side of the porch, rather than in the door itself.  It has been on W's "to do" list ever since, to make a box for the inside.  For a variety of reasons - more important projects taking precedence, lack of appropriate woodworking equipment - it has just reached the top of the list.

Today I returned home to find the front door locked and the house apparently empty.  The only clue to occupation was noise and light emanating from the woodworking shed at the bottom of the garden.  Having made this box for the inside, W is currently constructing a "sled" for his table saw to enable him to create the front.  He tells me that he will practise the technique he wants to perfect by making me a structure that I can use as a box for photographing stuff with a plain background.

It'll be nice to get the box finished, so the post no longer ends up on the floor.  It might help with the temperature in the porch a little - currently there's a good draught comes through the letter box, and it's always so cold in the winter that W refuses to hang his coat out there in case it freezes solid.
