Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home it may be but it was a very dreich day as this scene captured in the Duthie Park in Aberdeen shows all too clearly! It wasn’t the warm welcome back that I had been hoping for!!

Extra, extra ... read all about it!

I realised last night that I had made no reference to one area of Singapore that Mrs CBL and I visited a couple of times during our stay, Chinatown. It was just a few hundred yards/metres from our hotel so didn’t require a ‘planned visit’ unlike the other pats of the city.

Once an enclave for Singapore’s Chinese immigrant population, Chinatown is a sharp contrast to the rest of the city, with its low rise buildings. The fragrant smells of traditional cuisine and the favoured bold red and gold tones of the Chinese people run through the neighbourhood.

Chinatown today is much-beloved for its blend of old and new, with historic temples and traditional medicinal halls sitting alongside hip new bars and lifestyle shops. The extras give a flavour of this colourful district.

Singapore ... the end ... it was a joy to visit!

I am going to take a short break now ... to recover! This will enable me to catch up with your journals.
