The second half of life..

Hope & Gratitude

Whilst we had taken our Year 9's to Rabbit Island yesterday, our Year 10's were back at school planning, organising, designing and creating a range of items to support a group of 14 former refugees who were due to arrive in Nelson to begin their new lives today.

This afternoon, the real life E4E (Education for Enterprise) project came to life when the former refugees arrived and were brought to school where they were welcomed by our students.

One of the projects completed in the last couple of days was done in the workshops. 14 pewter taonga with a Kiwi or traditional fishhook theme were designed and created then gifted individually to each of the new-comers.

What a contrast the last 2 days have been - yesterday, relaxed fun in the sun on a beautiful, super-safe beach with hardly a care in the world . Today, the face a child who has only recently arrived as a refugee in a new country with limited language, virtually no possessions, facing a totally new life, culture and climate.

Go well friends.
