Summer and Winter

Today it was really hard to choose a blip. I added a couple of extras, either of which could also have been the day's picture. The day has been so bright, so lovely. In the evening after it got dark (4 o'clock!) we were in town to see the Christmas lights come on. Food was being sold on the square and a live group was playing music, well wrapped up against the cold. We bumped into Rose who invited us home so we enjoyed a sociable evening in town.
But back to the daylight and the pictures here...
The lake is frozen, the ice almost thick enough to walk on. There's a thick frost across the jetty, with long crystals growing upwards (extra). The air is still, and the sun warms the face, even if the temperature is a bit below 0.
A real contrast to summer but at the same time so many things are the same. The lake, jetty, sun and blue sky - but the temperature makes the difference!
The days are short now and will get even shorter in the next month but on a day like this it seems very strange to talk about the dark time of the year. The overarching feeling is of brilliant light. It seems so much brighter than in the summer.  The sunlight streams down and the frost coated ground is almost as bright as the clear blue sky. (extra)
We live in a beautiful place!
