So near....

Had a very poor night's sleep, so was looking forward to a decent cup of coffee to get me going. No such luck - the stuff that came out of the machine at the motel's buffet breakfast was pathetic. I moved on to the other hotel where the days conference activities were taking place and found thermos flasks labelled "tea" and "coffee". There was no aroma of coffee to be detected and certainly no taste.

I should have nipped out during the lunch break and obtained a decent cup from one of the several coffee chains nearby - this view was from the window just outside the main conference room (so the hotel is structurally part of the central station), and there's a Costa or similar just around that wood panelled curve to the right.

Went to a couple of (surprisingly) useful sessions and got the 5 pm train home, accompanied by dire warnings over the PA  about the train being fully booked beyond Edinburgh and so it would "get quite unpleasant". I had to elbow my way through the onrushing hordes in order to leave the train at Waverley. (From the rugby and the *mas markets apparently.) Got back to Leith and we went for something to eat in the Vaults before I fell asleep.
