I saw several of these wee flies in various parts of the garden today. I thought it was a metallic green soldier fly, but it is too hairy. It was under 10mm long.
The rain stopped for about four hours today so I was able to get some of the urgent gardening done. The grass has beaten me though. A couple of weeks ago I’d brought the non-lawn grass under control and was rather pleased with myself. However, in the wet mild conditions it has grown thick and tall, and it looks scraggy. Too wet to do anything with it.
