2018 Saturday— Christmas Luncheon

Today was the annual Christmas Party & Luncheon at the Summit House Restaurant in Brea. This event is put on by our Retirement Financial Adviser Jack Keeter. The lunch always includes prime rib roast, grilled salmon, mashed potatoes, salad, lots of vegetable sides, rice, an assortment of bread, and cake for dessert. This also includes a band with outstanding music and Christmas sing-alongs. Today it was the group “Hey Mister.” They were fabulous.

All of Jack’s clients are guests at this event; no one has to buy a ticket or pay for the meal. And Jack and his staff are the people who invest our finances and, quite frankly, build substantial retirements for every client. We ought to be taking him to a “thank you” Christmas Luncheon!

We’ve known Jack since he was a youngster in the church junior high youth group that we directed. About 20 years ago, Jack gently put his arm around us and advised us to think seriously about planning for retirement. We’re so thankful we listened to him and let him help us invest for the future. We were a little late in this and we wish we had started sooner. Late is better than never.

Jack is the man who took us through the Big Recession of 2008 and when we visited our CPA the next February, the CPA told us in no uncertain terms that we had a superior retirement adviser because our investments had not been wounded in the recession. We new that to be truth, but appreciated the confirmation. The CPA also told us he had seen many clients that season who had severe loses during the recession.

Jack has never charged us anything for his financial advising and does not charge any of his customers. Certainly he gets a commission, but we don’t pay it directly. It is a small slice of the growth of our finances that he has caused. If we were investing the finances ourselves, we’re confident we have nothing.

If you are a young adult, a middle life adult, we encourage you to plan for retirement. We’re so glad that 20 years ago a friend, Jack, encouraged us to do so.

We’re enjoying the start to December,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
