O2: a fantasy

Earlier this year, as regular readers will know, we attended a performance of Julius Caesar with David Morrissey as Mark Antony, and afterwards we fell into conversation with him about his part in the Walking Dead and the wonderful song by Ben Nichols that opens one of the episodes. Anyway it seems that we were both big Lucero fans and as we parted I told him next time the band were over, we should hook up. And we shook on it.
Fast forward six months: today as it so happened, the SK had made plans for a surprise gig at Newcastle of all places - train, hotel: the lot. The Young Fathers were playing at the Boiler Shop, unbeknowns to me. On the way there, I got a text from Dave, “backstage with the boys, see you soon dude.” Eh?? Fekksakes! Google google google... Lucero at the O2 Newcastle??
As it turned out, the Young Fathers pulled the plug on their gig anyway due to “illness.” So here we were, and what a great kickass gig it was. Till the next time, Dave. Or should I say, Governor.
