In Hereford 360 Gallery: John Bulmer exhibition x

What a better way to celebrate a 100th blip!

I have had an inspiring evening with John Bulmer in the 360 Gallery listening to a wonderful talk, slide show and photographic exhibition on his work and new book 'The North'.

John is a friendly, welcoming and humble man. His book documents in the 60's the demise of northern towns, the split of the communities and the last of the coal mining, the fabric mills and the collapse of the industrialised north. Its a wonderful record of both a moment in time but also of the trust and sense of community that people had in each other. A unity. A unity that was torn apart by modernity and new things.

John worked for the Sunday Times, Times magazine, Queens and then went onto make film maker too. His work can be seen on www.johnbulmer.co.uk.

I bought a few signed copies of his book for my northern family and friends. He was happy to chat and pose for pictures. A lovely man x
