This Old River Red- Gum Stump...

The old River Red-Gum stump 'just around the corner' - my husband tells me - possibly would have been a small sapling when Queen Elizabeth the First was on the throne!! But it's looking somewhat fatigued in this century...
It too, has survived the occasional floods, and its timber is still remarkably tough. It may have been hit by lightning many years ago, and bushfires then took its toll, but in meantime, its stump stands stately overlooking the river Murray...

We live on a State border, and across the river, you may see a little of the State of New South Wales. Some of these beautiful big trees, after many years, whilst still living, suddenly split and crash into the rivers, especially those which roots have been undermined in the high river during a flood..
