An Outing

I was on the road at 8.15 this morning to meet up with Alex, a young friend from Auckland and oldTimer at Temuka.  We headed inland to Geraldine, well not quite, we skirted around Geraldine, having many stops along the way as photographers do. From there we traveled on the gravel rural roads, photographing a derelict house, a beautiful black horse, St Anne's Anglican Church (my Blip), ran into a herd of cattle coming towards us (click click), wild foxgloves,  rapeseed - and that was all before arriving in the little rural settlement of Woodbury to have a picnic lunch in their Domain.  It was very hot so hunted out a shady spot with a picnic table.
Revived with food and a cup of tea, we set of to Peel Forest and beyond to photograph the stunning Mt Peel Church, graveyard and the Himalayan Lillies. Not really out but still worthy of photographing.
On the way back we snuck down a side road to see if the Tahr were showing their faces (extra).....I took Gitama there a few weeks back but they were allusive to the extreme then.
Lots of deer with antlers that were huge and very impressive.

So many photos to choose from, but I've gone for this one, it was a favourite when I took it, and since its Flower Friday I can tag it.

A great day, just proves that we don't have to travel great distances to find a variety of subjects.....all of the above on our doorstep, well almost.
