harps & sparks

Yesterday we worked to ukulele music; today it was harps - the Dumfries & Galloway Branch of the Clarsach Society visited The Usual Place and played in the cafe as diners ate their lunch. The music was beautiful - very gentle and calming. Some lovely songs as well...the trainees and staff enjoyed it as well as the customers.

Just after 3pm I turned around to see Luke sitting on one of the sofas! It's his 21st birthday today and he has come back from university in Edinburgh for a weekend of celebrations - watch this space :-). When I finished work, we went shopping together and then drove home.

As I parked the car on the drive, we were amazed to be greeted by a shower of sparks coming from the chimney and settling on the ground (see extra). I shouted for D but he knew the cause...while tidying the kitchen, he had accidentally melted a candle all over the Aga and was putting the newspaper he'd used to clean it up into the woodburning stove.

I enjoyed a bit of spontaneous light trail photography :-)
