Cathy's Retirement

It poured down all morning, but dry up by lunch and a sunny afternoon.  A fine evening, until the rain started again.

Another day working on the museum desk.  It's been a fairly busy day of visitors, and an event this afternoon.  I picked up a new van for my brother in law, Ingram, and dropped it off at mam's.  Mam is away south, but dad was home and put the kettle on.  I had planned walkies with Sammy and deliver Christmas cards around Scalloway, but the rain put an end to that!  So a quiet night by the fire.

It was a busy morning secretly setting up a tea party for Cathy's retirement, and a good turn out of staff.  Me and Cathy started at the museum about the same time, I was a few days before, and almost 12 years working together.  She'll be a big miss at work, and her peerie treats she brings in.  It's not far to her house from mine, so I'll be along for a glass of wine on the odd occasion.  Hope she has a very happy retirement, and enjoys putting her feet up.  Here's Cathy (Hallett) receiving flowers from our curator Dr Ian Tait, in the Shetland Museum foyer, Hay's Dock, Lerwick.
