Green Bodied Soldier Fly

I was pleased to capture the soldier fly at this angle because it shows the bright green face and abdomen, the even brighter green haltere, and the huge eye with a line across it. The amazing big black tongue was an added bonus. I think that the lined eye gives the fly a droll expression.

The passer-by is a little native solitary bee. There are a lot of them around at present.
