Pictorial blethers

Festive with a difference ...

There is a wonderful DIY store in Dunoon, a store where you can buy the most unexpected things, find the most animated conversations among the smells of rubber, wood, heaven knows what, pick up a laundry tub or a new plug for the bath. It rejoices in the name  Dae It Yersel' , and it's in an old street in the town called Tom-a-Mhoid Road which is pronounced Tomahoy ...

Yes. Quaint, family-owned and completely indispensable. And this afternoon we were passing when I noticed this window display. I've not seen it before; it could well be festive in intention. I love the collection of old tools, parcels tied with old-fashioned string that could be recycled to play cat's cradle, the sugar mouse in the bottom right that is actually intended as the victim of a very basic old-fashioned mouse trap - you can just make out a corner of it.

A cheering window on the dreichest of days when the daylight had barely established its gloomy self before darkness overcame it again.
