Cold Sunshine

Some days aren't set up properly.  Like today - where buses ran early.  I decided to take my revenge by not getting upset and going home to have a cup of tea and to start the day when I felt up to it.

That worked up to a point.

I did some work that I enjoyed. I also looked at a problem that looked really familiar but I just can't find the E-Mail from 2014 where I found the solution...

Working in IT can be a lot like hoarding - weird things happen and we write documents about casues and solutions because we KNOW it will happen again.  If you don't then you end up have conversations that go like this:

Me:  Ohhh - an SE37 on an internal work file...  Didn't we have something like that back in Feb??
Colleague: Ohhh - yeeeesss - we had to do the thing with the thing.  But I can't remember what either of the Things were.  Did you write it up?
Me:  No but Colleague X was going to.  They had a diagram.  I'll see if it's in our checklists.

The document reads like this:-

Checklist for Problem SE37 on an Internal Workfile

1. Description:
Problem happened
2. Diagrammatic Overview:
(will add diagram later)
3. Solution
Do the thing with the thing. (Pete - can you elaborate a bit more on this)

I find documents like this all the time, only very few of them have my name in and usually as the person who found the error.
