Pedantic about Pancetta!

I know this is pedantic but what else is pancetta for if it's not for cooking?  Wouldn't it be more correct to say 'requires cooking' rather than 'for cooking'?  I realise that I probably have too much time on my hands but I thought was suitable for Silly Saturday!
