Gravy

We’ve changed things around a bit this year. Instead of one big blow out day of fun and joy, after which we would have to get on a plane and head off to a heady mix of fun, joy, stress, and family; we decided to split Christmas.

So today was (after some last minute “oh no what if the cooking gas runs out” type errands) the big food day. In keeping with where we are, our big meal was tonight, leaving tomorrow to be a cruisy day of snacks and presents. Also neatly solving the twin problems of (a) what to do with the leftovers if you leave on Boxing Day, and (b) how to fit all the meals and over-consumption of chocolate into just the one day.

There was even some sun today for a bit of sitting outside. For my record, dinner was smoked trout blinis, roast goose with the trimmings we like and three brassicas (also the rather fine gravy this picture became) and filo apple pie.

Game of Thrones Risk occurred while I cooked, and some movies and stuff after. And, despite Mr B identifying every song as him, Dean Martin didn’t sing once. Well, there’s always tomorrow.
