Crazy About Birds

By Kimb

Mr. Mayor

My favorite mockingbird, at his post at the end of Chapel Spring Lane. I was literally no more than 10 feet from the bush he was in and all he did was pose for me. I'm not sure what the bush is - one of those things landscapers sell to people for the effect. I've never seen birds actually eating these berries, which is very likely a good thing. It could be nandina, which I do know has toxic berries, but I don't know nandina well enough to be sure. Does it drop its leaves and just have red berries in the winter?
